Columbia International University’s performance of “Little Women” enthralled audiences. This year’s performance, directed by οƵ Thespian’s president Aynsley Vivian, delivered an experience which introduced audiences to Louisa May Alcott’s seminal work in an expertly crafted musical rendition of the classic novel. The focus of the story is on Jo March, the second oldest of four sisters, who struggles to pursue her dream of becoming a writer while facing opposition from editors and an unexpected tragedy.

“Aynsley's leadership was amazing. I had done theater for a long time before coming to CU but I had kind of stepped away from it,” said Harrison Burnette, who played Laurie. “Getting back on stage after a long time was just a ton of fun. We had an amazing cast and great crew to work with so a lot of good chemistry backstage.”

Anna Wise, who played the part of Meg, said, “The highlight of being in the musical is definitely getting close with the cast. It's stressful and tiring but we all got really close, so we were able to support each other and that was the best part.”

Though praised for her work as director, Vivian refocused the attention to her cast’s faithfulness to their performances and to God.

“It was an honor to work with a cast that is so talented and gifted already and all literally are their character,” said Vivian, “It was also just an honor to work with the cast so willing to glorify God in what they did. They were faithful, came to rehearsals, did devotions, and honored the Lord in what they were doing.”

Over 500 guests were presented with the spectacular performance over the course of the musical’s three-day run, leaving a legacy of a God-honoring performance in the hearts and minds of the audience.
