Middle and High School Choir Faculty
Description
The Middle and High School Choir Teacher will lead the choral music program under the umbrella of the Fine Arts department of Ben Lippen School. The teacher will plan instruction, execute lessons, and evaluate student learning in choral music while preparing students for performances, festivals, and adjudications. The teacher will assist with additional responsibilities as assigned.
Responsibilities
A Ben LippenÌýMiddle and High School Choir Teacher is responsible to:
- Teach middle school and high school choir courses and other courses as assignedÌý
- Partner with other Fine Arts teachers to lead extra-curricular opportunitiesÌý
- Plan for instruction through the regular maintenance of course curriculum mapsÌý
- Implement assessments in each class to measure student learning and maintain a timely gradebookÌý
- Attend faculty meetings and professional development and carry out assigned non-instructional dutiesÌý
- Partner with the Fine Arts director to coordinate student performances, festivals, and competitionsÌý
- Carry out other specific responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A full understanding of the school’s official statement on the victorious Christian life and model the life described therein both on and off campus.Ìý
- A clear understanding of and commitment to the statement of faith and purpose of the school.Ìý
- Evidence of strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and technological skills.Ìý
- Proficiency in singing, conducting, sight-singing, and playing piano.Ìý
- Knowledge of adolescent cognitive development and the ability to instruct students successfully in music curriculum.Ìý
- The ability to inspire learning through effective classroom management and cultivate positive relationships with students.Ìý
- Bachelor's degree in music or music education from an institution approved by the regional accrediting agency.
